I need your Help!

Image
Family Home Evening yesterday was spent glitterizing small skeleton hands and skulls the kids enjoyed themselves. (Kyle is at the end of the table doing homework and Brandon is finishing the dishes) (Yes they all participated) We had a great time and even went to school with glitter in our hair. So here you have the end product. This is where I am asking for your help. I feel that something is missing. Do you have any ideas of what I could add? If you can't see the picture just click on it and hopefully it will come up full screen. Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated!

Ask a Stupid Question Day

Image
I can not pass this holiday up. My kids are always asking the most compelling questions when the answer is right there. And then I think Do they really not know or are they messing with me? (Because they like it, when I go kung fu panda on them.) But today is my turn to ask the questions. spongebob squarepants Question...Why his he so popular with kids? (I personally can't stand him) Question...Where are your shoes? Now this is a question we asked Brandon after we noticed he had no shoes on at Scouts. And yes we should have known they where at home. Question...Have you combed your hair? O.k. usually I know they didn't comb their hair and I know I should not ask the question because they just return with a stupid answer like... yes! These next questions you think I would learn not to ask but it never fails everyday I ask... Question...Do you have homework? Answer... No Reality... Yes...But if I tell you you will make me do it. Question...Are you done with your homework? Answer.....

Feeling Crafty

Image
Yesterday I was blog Stalking and stumbled upon a gem of a site. (I will not direct you over to her site since I personally don't know her) Her last post was how to make decorations sparkle. I was hooked so I jumped into my van and we were off on a crafty spree. While walking through Micheal's I had picked up some glitter, glue, and skulls. But I wasn't satisfied with just skulls so I went to our closest Dollar store and picked up some pumpkins, a skeleton and bones. I had a ton of fun and think I might go back for more pumpkins and a different color orange. I also gave my daughter and two of her friends free range with the glue and glitter. Do I need say more? I have glitter everywhere!! The pumpkins and skulls where pretty easy however the skeleton took a little extra effort. And the final product.

Twilight Round One

Image
As most of you know I purchased Twilight last weekend and since I was in the middle of Stargirl I offered my husband the honor of reading it first. Sam has laughed at the commotion Twilight has caused. He has also made comments of it being a girlie book. So when I cautioned him that Twilight is an addicting series and once you start you'll have a hard time putting it down. He laughed at my comments and finally Tuesday evening he thumbed through the book, Yesterday he was halfway through the story and let me tell you he wouldn't put it down for Stewarts open house (he sat in the auditorium reading) and I believe he was reading during the Scouts Court of Honor. I don't condone any of his actions but I did warn him. I am also excited to start my journey through Twilight that is why I am trying to prep the house and I might even think about making some dinners and freezing so when I start Twilight I won't have to feel bad that dinner didn't get cooked. LOL If you hav...

Ivy and Bean

Image
Ivy and Bean by Annie Barrows My review rating: 3 of 5 stars My kids and I enjoyed reading this book together. The story starts out with Bean finding trouble and in the process of trying to hide from her problems she meets up with Ivy and through there schemes and plots they find a friendship. This is a cute book for those starting out with chapter books.

Celebrate Gratitude Day with me

If you would like to celebrate Gratitude day with me just leave a comment of what you are grateful for...I will go first... I would like to thank my family for there support and love. My friends for inviting me to the movies, going out to dinner and putting up with my obnoxious laugh. To my cousins for their support throughout the years. I would like to thank my children for there unconditional Love, for their smiles and for sharing there growing moments with me. I would like to let my Husband know how much his hard work and devotion to our family means to me. I am truly grateful for his love and his belief in me. I am truly blessed to have all of you in my life and I would like to say Thank You!

Shopping for Birthday parties.

So today turned out to be a very busy day for me and I feel I accomplished nothing. Our day started with rehearsal at 9a.m.-11a.m. at the Stake building (our family is in the Christmas Carol that will be put on by Multiple Stakes) And then it was rush rush rush to Target to purchase 2 presents for 2 different parties luckily we only had one party today but Andrew kept asking if he could open his gift to try it out before the party on Wednesday. I'm sure he just wanted to make sure that it was gift worthy. As we were making our way to the checkout stand we walked past the book section and I finally picked up a copy of TWILIGHT (so now I have no excuses). So gifts and book in hand we head on home to drop everyone off and then Callie and I wrap the gift (a cute little purse we had on hand worked great) and then make our way over to the skating rink. I decided to pay for myself to help Callie because she had only been one other time that I know of. We had a great time skating around t...

What's your fortune?

Image
I have always wanted to make Fortune Cookies for the simple reason of saying I did it. The Top picture is my very first cookie. Not bad considering I put a teaspoon of dough and not the tablespoon I was suppose to use. However when they say you have less than a minute to shape they are not kidding. Here's a link to the recipe I used. Fortune Cookie Recipe .The cookies have a great taste and putting the batter together was pretty simple. Shaping the cookies seemed to where I fell short but for my first time I am pretty pleased and they will go great with Dinner... Chicken teriyaki and rice.

Mom turns blue Q&A

I had allot of questions about this poem mostly from my sister so I will explain just a little about it. 1.Who's the Author: Cindy Hayward (When I told my sister she acted surprised.) I have been know to write a few poems here and there they might not be the best but I try. 2. what does this poem mean? I have a hard time like any mom getting my kids to do anything especially cleaning there room. So I had enough of wading through Cody's room and Andrew had been sleeping on our floor because we couldn't find his bed. So while he was at school I went to work picking, sorting and throwing things away. And when they returned from School Cody was thrilled to see that he didn't have to move a finger and poof his room is clean. But while I was cleaning I had a bright idea that since I was doing his chore he could do mine. So I explained this to him and even though he was not happy about this he did get right to work. I have also cleaned Kyles and Brandon's room. And pla...

Mom turns blue

There once was a mother all tired and blue from asking her kids to clean their room. She had enough of her own jobs to do so she sat and thought her actions through. She decided to put her work aside she had no idea how she would survive. As the kids came home from school that day to find there mom had no time to play with smiles on their faces molded like clay they all shouted HOORAY ! And then came the tears and they shuddered with fears for they knew when there mother explained " Since I spent my day cleaning it's time to see the meaning." She gave them her tasks and sent them a flutter. Their words they did sputter and feet made some thunder But got right to work they didn't shirk. For the lesson learned is... clean your room or your mom will turn blue and you will have something harder to do. (true story)

Another sewing project

Image
Dish Towel Apron ** Click here for directions ** This was so easy However you would think I would read what type of bias tape I needed not me however my single layer worked fine (thanks for talking me through it, Mom) I bought the dishtowel at the Dollar Store and added a white ribbon to the bottom so the ending cost...under $2.00(because you can get two aprons done with one pkg. of bias tape) I am sure having fun sewing today however my house is suffering. Good thing tomorrow is make your bed day. lol .

Sewing Day!

Look what I did this morning! SEW EASY!(ha,ha) It's a game Five Stones - a traditional game here's how to play Five stones and yes I know there is only four I wanted to post before the fifth one was done. I will probably do this with my Achievement day Girls tonight. I will have allot of it pre- done because of time restrictions but I plan on them at least making one from start to finish. I got this great idea from Skip to my Lou .

Date nut Bread Day

Image
I decided to try my hand at Date Nut Bread to Celebrate this glorious day. And it turned out Delicious ! Happy Grandparents Day! You are Loved! Make a Smilebox photobook

Read a Book Day

Image
This was literally my first verse book. And I absolutely loved it. Josie Wyatt is a girl with cerebral palsy and this story spans through a year of her life and tells of her life on there family farmhouse. And the daily ups and downs she goes through. Reaching for the sun for me was a refreshing change and it just takes me back to how much I love poetry. (It's a very quick read as well)

Your never too old for a nap.

Image
The kids came home from school and we decided to walk to the Library and pick up some books to read. We got home and Kyle got right into reading. LOL ! I was busy cleaning and making dinner that Kyle didn't think I noticed him snoozing during reading time. He woke up and started talking about his book and how excited he is to read it. He even made a comment about how he was tired and he almost feel asleep. I chuckled and said "you almost feel asleep" and then I pulled out the picture. You should have seen his face it was like I caught him in the cookie jar. I must say he is adorable when he's sleeping not to mention easier to handle.

E.A.R.S.

Image
Earrings Are Real Scary! Callie has had her ears pierced for sometime now at least a couple of years. And has hardly had problems with infections. We bought this pair of earrings about a week ago and she put them on around that time. Today after school I was patting her head a noticed her ears were infected but when I tried to take them off there was no back to the earring. The back was embedded into the skin. I took her to the after hours clinic and they took one look and sent me on may way saying they won't even touch them. So off I went to the E.R. and a few hours later we left with two stitches one in each ear and a new pink pen that the doctor promised Callie. What a trooper! She cried so hard when they were poking and prodding it was all I could do to hold it together. All she wanted was her Dad (he is in Mississippi on a business trip) and for her mom to hold her which I did the moment the Doctor was done. I would also like to give a shout out to those who helped with giving...

First Day Jitters

Image
The kids had there first day of school today. They were so excited they woke up at 6:30a.m. and ready by 7:30a.m. (backpacks and everything) So at 8:00a.m. we piled into the car and dropped Tasha and Kyle off they weren't to excited about there mom taking pictures of them. (I guess it isn't cool!) We came back home for half an hour to waste some time before piling in the car a second time and dropping off Brandon, Cody and Callie. We stayed to make sure Callie got into class alright and then we went down the hall and yanked Cody out of class to go to the Dentist. I know you are thinking to yourself what kind of mom schedules a Dentist appointment the first day of school. I am hopeful that everyday will be as easy to get the kids ready as today turned out to be.
